Meningioma

Meningioma is a type of brain tumor that forms from the membranes that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. Dr. Ghosh has substantial expertise and experience in the management of meningiomas. Using state-of-the-art techniques including microsurgical removal using the operating microscope and neuro-navigation systems, Dr. Ghosh is able to manage both superficial and convexity meningiomas. In addition, Dr. Ghosh can utilize robotic radiosurgery and Gamma Knife radiosurgery when complete removal of the tumor poses too great of a risk for the patient. Furthermore, Dr. Ghosh has substantial experience and expertise in the management of cranial base surgery, which involves dismantling the eye socket, the ear, or the base of the neck to access deep-seeded meningiomas. Without cranial base surgery, these types of meningiomas are otherwise inaccessible with standard neurosurgical techniques. Dr. Ghosh is featured in the Discovery Health Channel Show: Medical and Incredible where he was the lead surgeon in the removal of the largest meningioma on record in the Scripps Health system.
