Pre-Op Instructions
- DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING for eight hours before arrival at the hospital. Including: gum, candy, mints, coffee, or water. Do not consume alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours prior to surgery.
- Stop all medications containing aspirin one week prior to surgery. *See attached sheet for medication list.
- Stop all medications containing anti-inflammatories one week prior to surgery. *See attached sheet for medication list.
- Use Tylenol for pain or any aspirin-free product.
- If you are on a blood thinning product such as Coumadin, Plavix, or Heparin, consult the prescribing physician as to preoperative instructions regarding this medication.
- Bring a current list of medications, including dosages with you to the hospital.
- If you take blood pressure medications, take them the morning of surgery with a small sip of water.
- Brush your teeth before your surgery, but do not swallow the water.
- Bathe or shower the night before your surgery.
- Do NOT wear make-up, powder, perfume, lotion, or aftershave to the hospital.
- Do not bring jewelry or valuables with you to the hospital.
- Bring a case for glasses or contact lenses.

Selected Drugs Which Contain Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents (NSAIDS): These medications should be discontinued 1 week prior to surgery.
